Which preset should I use?
Each preset trades a little sharpness for a smaller file. If you're not sure, start with Strong and adjust from there.

What makes a video file big?
Knowing where the size comes from tells you where the easy savings are.
Bitrate
How much data is stored per second of video. It's the single biggest factor, and exactly what compression lowers.
Resolution
4K has four times the pixels of 1080p. Pick 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p under Resolution to match how the video will be watched — it only ever shrinks, so smaller videos are left alone.
Frame rate
60fps stores twice as many frames as 30fps. Great for sports and gaming, unnecessary for most talking-head or phone clips.
Motion & detail
Static scenes compress easily. Shaky camera work, water, foliage, confetti, and film grain need far more data to look clean.
Codec
Newer codecs like H.265 and VP9 store the same picture in less space than H.264, at the cost of slower encoding or compatibility.
Length
Size grows in a straight line with duration. Trimming 20% off a clip saves 20% of the file before any compression happens.
